Agents in Conn., N.H., See Stricter
Underwriting in Homeowners Market
Only Personal Auto Seems to Escape Higher Prices; Agents See 6% to 10% Price Increases
GLENMONT, N.Y. — Indepen-
dent agents say they are seeing
major changes in homeowners in-
surance underwriting, reporting
that companies are being stricter
and implementing more price in-
creases, according to a market trends
survey conducted by Professional
Insurance Agents of Connecticut,
New Hampshire, New Jersey and
New York State (PIA).
“The results of the PIA Market
Trends Survey indicate a significant
change in the way underwriters are
approaching business in the homeowners market and significant price
increases across the board (6% to
10%) with the exception of personal
auto,” said PIACT President Augusto
Russell, CIC.
