The Norfolk & Dedham Group recently sponsored a program to match charitable donations for the Haiti earthquake relief whom effort. Agents the insurer works with have contributed over $15,000 to various charities that support the rebuilding efforts and the people of Haiti.
According to Joel Murry of Norfolk & Dedham, about 40 agents have contributed. The company matched donations up to $250 for “1825 Club” member agents and $100 for all other N&D appointed agents.
The charities were selected by the agents and include the Red Cross, Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army.
The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut and the Young Insurance Professionals of Connecticut elected directors and officers this week during the association’s Annual Convention at Foxwoods held at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Conn. Leading the association in 2010 to 2011 will be new President Howard Olderman. He is president of The Olderman and Hallihan Agency Inc. in Ansonia, Conn.
The president-elect position will be take on by James Berliner, president of Berliner-Gelfand & Co. Inc., in Bridgeport, Conn. Vice president is Timothy Russell, CPCU. He is a senior member of The Russell Agency LLC in Southport, Conn. Also serving as vice president will be Brian Schmitt Sr., president of Curtiss, Crandon & Moffette Inc. in Trumbull, Conn. Augusto Russell, CIC, will serve as treasurer. He is a producer and partner at May, Bonee & Walsh Inc. in East Berlin, Conn. The secretary will be Peter Frascarelli, CPIA, also the chief operating officer for the Peter M. Bakker Agency Inc., in Avon, Conn.
James Goodman, CIC, will serve as immediate past president. Goodman is president of Goodman Insurance in Shelton, Conn.
Olderman and Russell have also been elected to serve three-year director terms. Joining them on the board will be Loretta Lesko, CIC, who is commercial lines manager for A.A. DiMatteo Insurance Service Center in Shelton.
Active in the association, Lesko serves as education chair of the Association Programs Committee and a member of the Recruitment Task Force. She also is an ex-officio member of

the Western Advisory Council.
Also joining the PIACT board is Mary Kay Andrews, CIC. Andrews is vice president of operations for the Sutherland Insurance Group in Naugatuck, Conn. Andrews serves on the Legislative Committee and also on the Western Advisory Council.
Marissa Barbera, vice president of the Charter Oak Agency in Darien, Conn., and William Malloy, CIC, president and owner of the Wm. F. Malloy Agency Inc. in Stamford, will be serving as directors as well.
Also during the convention, officers of the Connecticut Young Insurance Professionals were elected. Angela Brunetti, CIC, CISR, of The Distel Group in Farmington, Conn., will serve as president. Shannon Rabbett Hollman of The Rabbett Insurance Agency in Windsor, Conn., will serve as president-elect. Marsha Hillman of Crystal Restoration Services in Southington, Conn., will serve as treasurer; and Scott Cronin of J.C. Bradley & Son Inc. in Fairfield, Conn., will serve as secretary.
Brunetti and Cronin are also serving two-year terms on CTYIP’s board of directors. Joining them are Lauren Gill of S.H. Smith & Co. in Hartford, Conn.; Marsha Hillman of Crystal Restoration Services in Southington, Conn.; Dana McKinney of S.H. Smith & Co. in Hartford, Conn.; Bud O’Neil of C.V. Mason & Co. Inc. in Bristol, Conn.; Don Perillo of Glass America in New London, Conn.; Nelson Rodriguez of Metlife Auto & Home in Windsor, Conn.; and David Woodmansee of Woodmansee Insurance in Wyoming, R.I.
Also elected to the board of directors for one-year terms expiring in 2011 are: Shannon Rabbett Hollman of Rabbett Insurance Agency in Windsor, Conn.; Allyson Kataja of Servicemaster of Norwich/New London and Raymond D. Snow of General Casualty in Middletown, Conn.
